In the world of telephony, these advanced systems are what keeps communications open between employees, offices, and the outside world.
You need to ask yourself some questions: What kind of internet connectivity does your PBX will need? Would you need to have your service handle multiple physical locations, and maybe forward calls to cell phones or other remote locations?
Answering many of these concerns is generally crucial to finding the ideal fit for your company, and its PBX Phone System. To assist you find those answers, here's some food for consideration...
Hiring an operator or receptionist is often times unnecessary, or just unfeasible if you have too many incoming calls. The same tasks performed by receptionist on the phone can be taken care of by many of the business phone systems these days, and usually can do it better than a human. At the most basic level, these "Auto Attendant" features includes options such as allowing the caller to brows through a touchtone activated menu, reach specific extensions or access information recordings. Maybe someday we'll even have a PBX that will brew a pot of coffee...
More interesting are auto-dial capabilities, which can be used to provide a wide array of useful functions. At the most basic level, many of us associate PBX auto-dialing with robo-calls, or telemarketing. However, the systems can do much more than that, especially when blended with modern technology. For example, sending text messages to cell phones automated for instant and informative personal, departmental, or company-wide alerts and notices. Recordings or messages can be delivered as well, and many packages even provide text to speech for reading messages to the recipient, such as crucial e-mails.
If you'd prefer not fit a PBX into your business's physical location, there are hosting options available. Rather than running the system yourself, a hosted PBX is a run remotely, usually leased on a monthly or yearly basis. Often times, this can drive down your costs, and allow for a quick roll out, with little or no equipment needed at your places of business. Calls can easily be routed to other numbers as well, such as cells and home phones. The advantages do come at a price though, with much of your system being tied up remotely, which can become a nightmare should you later switch to a local system. Transferring everything from menus to voicemail to extensions to the new system can become difficult.
Making sure your business's telephone system is up to snuff is a crucial factor in ensuring your business's ability to communicate and survive. Delving into the features provided by today's PBX systems a huge edge in today's competitive world.
