With a few telephone system pricing quotes in hand, it's going to be a lot less difficult for you to make a decision.

People are continuously interconnected and exchanging valuable, important information. Keeping these communications flowing, at the heart of your business is the PBX, making sure employees and customers alike are able exchange information. Before diving in though, there are a few things you should consider.

The way you go about investing in and integrating a phone system into your business depends largely on what type of features and services it offers, in addition to how you want to use it. What sort of internet connectivity does your PBX will need? Would you gain more from maintaining it on site, or having a 3rd party host it? Would you need to have your system handle several physical locations, and maybe forward phone calls to cell phones or other remote locations?

Answering many of these questions is generally crucial to getting the most out of the system. To assist you find those answers, here's some food for consideration...

Hiring an operator or receptionist is often times unnecessary, or just unfeasible if you have too many incoming calls. You'll be glad to know that most of the same features can be taken care of by many of the current PBX systems. At the most basic level, these "Auto Attendant" features includes options such as allowing your users to navigate a (potentially huge) menu system, reach specific extensions or access information recordings. Now if only they had a phone system that will brew a pot of coffee...

Having your phone system perform automated tasks can save you time and money. Auto-dialing provides a means for the system to place calls (and more) all on it's own. At the most basic level, many of us associate PBX auto-dialing with robo-calls, or telemarketing. However, the systems can do much more than that, especially when blended with modern technology. For example, sending text messages to cell phones automated for informative personal, departmental, or company-wide alerts and notices. Recordings or messages can be delivered as well, and many packages even provide text to speech for reading messages to the recipient, such as crucial e-mails.

If you'd prefer not fit a PBX into your business's physical location, there are hosting options available. Rather than running the system yourself, a hosted PBX is a standard business phone system, hosted and managed by a provider. The advantage is largely that you can take a hands off approach to the system, and have little investment in equipment. Calls can easily be routed to other numbers as well, such as cells and home phones. The advantages do come at a price though, with much of your system being tied up remotely, which can become a nightmare should you later switch to a local system. Transferring everything from menus to voicemail to extensions to the new system can become difficult.

The sheer power delivered by computer driven phone systems, like the modern business PBX, can do wonders for your business. But each business has unique needs and demands, and there is really no one size fits all solution. It's my hope that some of the information above will help you determine what will really benefit you in a business phone system.
