Deciding on a Prostarbusiness telephone system might be a time consuming chore. Regardless if you are just entering the marketplace, or upgrading your business phone system to meet growing needs, the market has really expanded to meet today's demand for constant communication and collaboration.
You need to think about some questions: What amount expansion do you expect to see, and how long should the system continue to serve you? Would you gain more from maintaining it on site, or having a third party host it? What kind of infrastructure do you have in place currently, and can you utilize it in the new system?
Addressing many of these questions can be very important to getting the most from the system. To help you find those answers, here's some food for thought...
Power failures occur occasionally. It is a bit odd to be looking at leading edge business telephone systems, and realize that it's going to be driven by a power network that largely runs on a power grid designed for the needs of the previous century. Luckily many current PBX telephone systems come complete with their own built-in UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to avoid this from stopping your communications. Even in the event of a blackout, your clients and employees will still be able to count on communications going unimpeded, and the hub of your communications will remain functional, taking calls as usual.
If you'd prefer not fit a PBX into your business's physical location, there are hosting options available. Rather than running the system yourself, a hosted PBX is a standard business phone system, hosted and managed by a provider. The advantage is largely that you can take a hands off approach to the system, and have little investment in equipment. Calls can easily be routed to other numbers as well, such as cells and home phones. The advantages do come at a price though, with much of your system being tied up remotely, which can become a nightmare should you later switch to a local system. Transferring everything from menus to voicemail to extensions to the new system can become difficult.
Modernizing your current system, or installing your first, it doesn't matter. Upgrading your business phone system to harness the power of the current offerings is a no-brainer. Delving into the features provided by today's PBX systems is exciting and can bring huge rewards in terms of increasing your business's capabilities, productivity, and overall ability to communicate, whether it be with customers, or inter-office communications.
